Self Service Password Reset (SSPR)

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) is a Microsoft delivered feature that allows an enrolled user the ability to reset their own password.

“Passwords are like underwear: you don’t let people see it, you should change it very often, and you shouldn’t share it with strangers.”

Chris Pirillo

Use Self-Service Password Reset to Recover Your Account or Change Your Password

With all the passwords we are required to keep in this day and age, it’s a wonder we remember half of them. Password management has become a job and a half…

SSPR aims to simplify the process, allowing the end user, that’s you, to securely reset their own passwords, anytime, anywhere, using the steps below:

a. Open your web browser in private mode (for Firefox or Safari) or Incognito Mode (for Chrome) and go to https://outlook.office365.com/

b. Click Can’t access your account?

c. The next page will require you to enter your email address.

For example: someone@gsol.co.za

Then, complete the Captcha prompt, then click Next.

d. After successfully completing the Captcha, choose the appropriate selection and click Next.

e. You will be prompted to recover your account using one of the authentication methods you configured when you first set up SSPR:

Alternate email

Text/call mobile device

 f. When the verification step has been completed, you will see the Choose a New Password screen. Type a new password, confirm the password, then click Finish.

NOTE: Your password must be at least 8 characters long, and cannot be one of the last two passwords you previously used.

A confirmation screen is displayed, letting you know your password has been reset.
